The University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs is inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in Modern Ireland, titled the Keough Naughton Family Professor in Modern Ireland. This full-time role will commence in August 2026 at the Notre Dame campus.

Position Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Strong training in social sciences such as political science, history, anthropology, economics, sociology, international relations, or public policy.
  • A focused research agenda on contemporary issues in modern Ireland.
  • Conduct impactful research and actively engage in public discourse, policy communities, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Teach at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
  • Mentor future scholars and contribute to collaborative research projects.
  • Hold an affiliated faculty role at the Keough School’s Institute for Irish Studies, supporting cross-disciplinary work on Ireland and the Irish diaspora.

Qualifications

  1. Must hold or be near completion of a Ph.D. in a related field.
  2. Demonstrated promise in conducting rigorous, peer-reviewed research.
  3. Experience or strong interest in policy engagement and public communication is highly valued.
