The University of Southampton is offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time 2-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow position starting early 2026. This role is based within the Schools of Ocean & Earth Science and Physics & Astronomy. The successful candidate will join a new collaboration focused on studying ocean and sea-ice dynamics on Earth and the icy moons of our Solar System.
Position Highlights
- Use the advanced Oceananigans model.
- Contribute to developing a next-generation ocean component for the OASIS climate model.
- Be part of an interdisciplinary research team focused on planetary and oceanographic sciences.
Requirements
- A PhD or equivalent in Physical Oceanography, Atmospheric or Planetary Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or similar fields by the start date.
- Strong programming skills in Julia, Python, Fortran, or C++.
- Experience in ocean or sea-ice modeling.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and passion for interdisciplinary research.
