King’s College London is seeking applications for an exciting Research Associate position in the Peter Gorer Department of Immunobiology. The role is based in the Santos Lab, a clinical translational research group focused on cutting-edge food allergy research. This opportunity allows candidates to contribute to advancing the diagnosis and understanding of immune mechanisms involved in food allergies, with the ultimate goal of developing novel treatments.
Food allergies impact millions globally, including approximately 8% of children and 10% of adults, many of whom face life-threatening risks. The research target is to explore oral tolerance mechanisms to food allergens like peanuts, examining how early exposure might help reduce the incidence of allergies. Collaboration with the Neves Lab will be key, as the project investigates immune responses utilizing innovative gut organoid models.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract lasting three years, based at King’s Guy’s Campus. The position is scheduled to begin no earlier than 1st November 2025. Applicants must possess or be awaiting a PhD in immunology or a related field.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in immunology laboratory techniques, such as flow cytometry and cell culture
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proven research abilities in relevant areas
Desirable Skills
- Experience with spectral flow cytometry
- Skills in single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) data analysis
- Exposure to working with human blood samples
