The University of Surrey in the UK is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Researcher position in the field of multimodal language processing. This role is part of a special project funded by eBay, aiming to develop a new framework to enhance vision-language research.

Project Goals

The primary objectives of this project include:

  • Improving the matching of product listings
  • Enhancing product moderation processes
  • Extracting product attributes more efficiently
  • Predicting relevance for various applications

Additionally, the developed framework is expected to support future advancements such as chatbots with image understanding capabilities and image-based product search functionalities.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal applicant should possess:

  1. A Master’s degree in computer science
  2. Strong knowledge of visual language models
  3. Experience in machine learning, natural language processing, large language models, or multimodal processing
  4. Excellent programming skills
  5. Experience in scientific writing

Moreover, the candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
