Western Sydney University, located at the Westmead Innovation Quarter, is offering a part-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Quantitative Linguistics. This fixed-term role involves working 17.5 hours per week for three years, with a pro-rata annual salary ranging from $56,359 to $68,090, inclusive of superannuation and leave loading.
About the Role
The successful candidate will join the prestigious MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development to contribute to a groundbreaking project examining the loss of Indigenous languages among Papua New Guinea’s youth. Supported by an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant, the research focuses on how language decline affects social cohesion, community well-being, and cognition.
Under the guidance of Dr. Hannah Sarvasy, the fellow will be responsible for:
- Conducting quantitative linguistic research
- Designing studies
- Performing data analysis
- Writing publications
- Presenting findings at conferences
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should have or be pursuing a doctorate in one of the following fields:
- Linguistics
- Experimental Psychology
- Computer Science
- Related disciplines
Essential skills and qualities include:
