The University of Sydney is inviting applications for an exciting full-time position as a Professional Officer, Cultural Heritage. This role is part of their Core Research Facilities team and is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

Position Details

  • Role: Professional Officer, Cultural Heritage
  • Duration: 12 months (full-time, fixed-term)
  • Salary: Starting at $99,455 plus 17% superannuation
  • Location: Sydney Analytical, University of Sydney

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will oversee the Cultural Heritage node, specifically working with vibrational spectroscopy and X-ray instruments.

  • Manage and supervise portable instruments including vibrational spectroscopy and XRF techniques.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Provide expert knowledge in spectroscopic equipment operation.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with cultural heritage stakeholders and researchers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Extensive experience in operating advanced spectroscopic equipment.
  2. Strong skills in data analysis related to vibrational spectroscopy and XRF.
  3. Understanding of cultural sensitivities related to museum and heritage items.
  4. Unrestricted Australian work rights (visa sponsorship is not available).
