In a grand and inspiring ceremony, the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai witnessed the graduation of over 100 cadets, including 24 women, who were commissioned into the Indian Army on Saturday. The event, marked by a spectacular military parade at the iconic Parameswaran Drill Square, celebrated the culmination of rigorous training and the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of these young officers.
The passing out parade, a tradition steeped in military honor, saw 133 Officer Cadets and 24 Women Officer Cadets being commissioned into various arms and services of the Indian Army. These cadets, now ready to embody the values of duty, sacrifice, and excellence, were joined by 12 Foreign Officer Cadets—five men and seven women—from five friendly nations. Their successful completion of training not only highlights their personal dedication but also strengthens international bonds of camaraderie and cooperation.
The ceremony was graced by Lieutenant General Johnson P Mathew, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, New Delhi, who served as the Reviewing Officer. In his address, he commended the cadets and the OTA staff for their exceptional achievements. He urged the newly commissioned officers to uphold the core military values of selfless service to the nation and to strive for excellence in all their endeavors.
As part of the ceremony, Lieutenant General Mathew presented the prestigious OTA Gold Medal, the Sword of Honor, and other awards to outstanding cadets, recognizing their exemplary performance during training.
The event concluded with the poignant Pipping Ceremony, where the newly commissioned officers proudly donned their ranks. This symbolic act was accompanied by a solemn pledge to uphold the Constitution of India and to protect the nation’s sovereignty at all costs.
The passing-out parade not only celebrated the cadets’ transformation into officers but also served as a reminder of the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to excellence, diversity, and international cooperation. As these young officers step into their roles, they carry with them the hopes and aspirations of a nation, ready to serve with courage, integrity, and honor.
This milestone event at OTA Chennai is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the cadets, the guidance of their instructors, and the enduring spirit of the Indian Army. The nation watches with pride as these officers embark on their journey to safeguard its future.
